Warrior Construction LLC (license BC-34373) is completing a structural remodel scope at a Walmart retail location on Farrington Highway in Kapolei, Hawai‘i, performing the self-perform demolition, concrete, masonry, carpentry, drywall/metal framing, and painting package as a subcontractor on a broader store renovation. The work centers on cutting three new door openings into the existing building envelope: a new exterior door with an accompanying concrete entry stoop, a new interior door, and a new interior access door serving the store’s Beauty Sales department.
Opening a new exterior door through a fully grouted 8-inch CMU wall on an occupied, operating retail building requires careful sequencing. Warrior’s crews saw-cut and demolish the existing concrete slab and sidewalk at each new opening, build temporary dust containment walls to isolate active retail areas during construction, and install steel jamb columns, lintels, and plates at the new openings. New reinforcement is doweled into the existing grouted CMU with adhesive anchors, with masonry patched and restored to match adjacent construction.
Because the store remains open to the public throughout construction, all work in customer-facing areas is performed as night work, with the team adhering to Walmart’s and the general contractor’s safety protocols and phasing the work around store operations — reflecting Warrior’s capability to execute structural and finish work safely inside a live, big-box retail environment under a compressed nighttime schedule.
