Warrior Construction LLC has been engaged as a specialty subcontractor on a rooftop terrace renovation at the Hawai‘i Convention Center in Honolulu, where our scope focuses on the removal, protection, and reinstallation of a precast concrete handrail assembly along the fourth-level terrace. The work targets three precast guardrail panels spanning roughly ten linear feet, including a corner panel requiring hoisted removal, as part of a broader terrace waterproofing and deck restoration effort led by the project’s general contractor, Swinerton Builders.
Our crew is approaching this as a precision demolition-and-reinstatement sequence rather than a simple teardown. Work begins with careful removal of sealant and mortar joints at the panel bases, followed by rigging and hoisting the panels off their anchor points for off-site protection and storage while the surrounding concrete deck is prepared for waterproofing by others. Once the structural deck beneath the handrail bases is exposed, our team will perform epoxy crack injection and spall repair at the anchor pocket locations before installing new anchor sleeves and non-shrink grout.
With substrate repairs cured, the precast panels will be reset on new base plates and shims, hoisted back into position, and torqued to spec, followed by a final survey and punch-list walkthrough. This project is representative of the structural concrete repair and precast handling services Warrior Construction (BC-34373) provides to general contractors and commercial property owners across O‘ahu, particularly on occupied public and institutional buildings where coordination and minimal disruption are essential.
