Aging cast iron drain-waste-vent lines can fail out of sight, and a condominium association needs hard evidence of what is in the ground before deciding on repairs. Casa De Emdeko, a Kailua-Kona condominium community on Hawai‘i Island, is investigating the condition of its underground 4-inch cast iron drain line.
Warrior Construction LLC (license BC-34373), working as a subcontractor to the project’s general contractor, will tone and locate the line, then excavate four test pits to expose the pipe three to five feet below grade. At each location we will cut a pipe sample, return the line to service, backfill, compact, and restore the surface. Every sample is tagged and handed off under chain-of-custody for forensic laboratory analysis.
The site is an occupied condominium, so access and utility shutoffs are being coordinated with the association and property manager. Field work is scheduled for mid-October 2026, with a short mobilization from O‘ahu to Kona.
