Warrior Construction LLC is serving as the self-performing subcontractor for a storefront entrance modification at Walmart Store #2473 in Hilo, Hawai‘i, working under general contractor Tri-State General Contractors. The scope centers on two new openings in an active, fully operational retail store: a new exterior door with an accessible concrete stoop and aprons cut into an existing CMU wall, and a new interior Breakroom door. The project requires Warrior’s crews to coordinate demolition, structural masonry infill, and finish work around ongoing store operations and customer traffic on Hawai‘i Island.
The work package combines eight self-performed trade scopes — demolition, concrete, masonry repair, carpentry, store fixture relocation, door and hardware installation, drywall and metal framing, and painting — into a single accountable scope from demolition through punch-out. Crews will saw-cut and remove existing CMU to form the new exterior door opening, shore the wall during the cut, pour a new concrete footing and stoop slab with sloped aprons, and infill the opening with CMU and a bond-beam lintel.
Because the work takes place inside a live, occupied big-box store, sequencing is a key part of the plan: fixture relocation and interior finish work in customer-facing areas will be performed during off-hours night shifts, while exterior masonry and concrete work proceeds during standard daytime hours. Warrior’s crew will mobilize to the Big Island from O‘ahu for the duration of the project, reflecting the company’s capability to self-perform multi-trade commercial scopes as a single point of accountability for national retail clients across every Hawaiian island.
